I was wondering if I can find any instructions or tutorial to install smart fox on a mac. Is it much different from an installation on Windows?
I have run the setup file and I have an icon on the launchpad bar but it runs and shuts down (I guess) when I try to start it
thanks

Re: Help configuring and running smart fox on a Mac
Are you asking for SmartFoxServer 1.x or 2X?
The docs for 2X is found here, with instructions for all platforms:

Cheers

You can find the installation docs here:
http://smartfoxserver.com/docs/1x/docPa ... lation.htm
Installing under MacOS is actually very easy

Re: Help configuring and running smart fox on a Mac
Thanks, and good morning, Lapo,
still no luck though My mac runs with the Sierra OS and I've allowed its access on the firewall. Don't know what else to look at...

What is the problem exactly?
Does the server start up correctly? Have you checked the logs?
Thanks

Re: Help configuring and running smart fox on a Mac
Thanks for replying,
no, I get no logs. I'd need a ultra quick screen saver to read what smartfox says in the dialogue box before it shuts down.
<It tries to start but it shuts down inmediately
I don't know if I can be of much help, I followed the instructions step by step from the link and seeing it still doesn't run I allowed the connection in the firewall
I even tried with smartfox 2 but it's the same problem

Re: Help configuring and running smart fox on a Mac
I'd recommend following these steps:
Let us know what error do you see.
Thanks
- Open a Terminal window (the Terminal is found under /Applications/Utility)
- Change directory to your SmartFoxServer installation directory and go in the Server/ folder
- Type: ./start.sh and hit Enter
Let us know what error do you see.
Thanks

Re: Help configuring and running smart fox on a Mac
Got it!
I didn't have Java JDK installed, but it still doesn't run from the icon.
I've read somewhere there is a way to create a hotkey or shortcut, would you happen to let me know how if you do? This is time consuming, like crazy when you're not a pro. I've only been using the mac for less than a month...
thanks

Re: Help configuring and running smart fox on a Mac
Once the JDK is installed you should have zero problems just double clicking the SmartFoxServer icon to run it...
Do you see any specific error?
Also, as a side note, are you using SFS PRO for some specific reason?
In general if you're starting out with SmartFoxServer we recommend using SFS2X which is much more recent and up to date product, with lots more features.
There's a Community Edition that is fully free and comes with a license for 100CCU which is even better than the 20 CCU for SFS PRO.
Just mentioning in case you have the option to choose
