I'm sure it would be nice for some people if it was possible to modify maxU at runtime after room creation.
A possible scenario: The host can modify the game to increase the number of users to allow more people to join. This can be common when a game room could be used for multiple games (with different options/settings between each one). For example, a game type only requires 2 players where other game type could require 4 players (i.e. team)
Having to re-create a room for each game type will make it difficult to maintain same players.
