How do I run the redbox server on a windows server?

Postby Carl Lydon » 02 Apr 2009, 19:21

How do I run the redbox server on a windows server?

I see red5.bat, red5.jar, no executable and I can't run the jars.

This is in the SFPro 1.6.2 Server / Redbox folder

thanks

That's what I thought, but when I open it I get in the cmd window:

'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operarable program or batch file.
Press any key to continue...

I had the office expert try to get it to recognize (find?) java with no luck.

If I open the SF start.bat, it runs fine. Weird.

Ok, I downloaded the latest version of java, rand the installer, and then tried to run the bat file.

Now my error is as attached. It seems to be looking for quicktime.zip. Does that mean I have to install quicktime on my server?

Ok, I installed quicktime 7 as well, and restarted the server. Still getting same error. Current .bat is:

Code: Select all

@echo off
java -Djava.security.manager -Djava.security.policy=conf/red5.policy -cp red5.jar;conf;bin;%CLASSPATH% org.red5.server.Standalone
pause

My server is Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2, Service pack 2

Should I just tell my boss that Redbox won't run on this machine?

Carl are you sure you really read the post I mentioned in my reply?
Because in that post I explain how to make a simple change in the .bat file to make it work with the SFS JRE, instead of installing a new JRE and then going mad with Quicktime which, by the way, has nothing to do with Red5 and the RedBox.

If I were you I would follow that route, it takes 10 seconds and will fix the problem you have.

Ok, we finally got it working. "kfblake's" solution on the link "bax" posted is what worked for us; removing %CLASSPATH% worked:

Thanks, Lapo, Bax and kfblake.
