running red5 as a service

Postby cadamson » 11 Oct 2009, 21:28

I am having trouble trying to get the red5 installation included in redbox to run as a service. I have tried copying over the wrapper included with the standard red5, but I cannot get it to work. Has anyone been successful with making a wrapper for red5 in redbox? It is not much good to us without being able to run it as a service.

Hi,
I think there are two options.

1- Download a standalone version of Red5 and you should be able to run it as a service. If I remember correctly they do include the same java service wrapper we use.

2- You can do it by learning a bit about the Tanuki Java Service Wrapper.

You can start by duplicating our conf/wrapper.conf file and use that as an help to get started. All you need to do is adding all the dependencies of the start script in the wrapper.conf file.

Hope it helps
