tile elevation and z-coordinate::sorting algo in OS

Postby li_ramen07 » 17 Jun 2011, 02:22

Hi everyone,

Question regarding tile elevations/z-sort:

Let's say i have 2 tiles:
tile A: x:15, y:37, z:1 [topElev: 90, bottomElev: 70]
tile B: x:13, y:35, z:2 [topElev:350, bottomElev: 335]

The height of tile A's skin makes it appear to overlap with Tile B. Problem is, tile A appears "in front" of tile B even though tile B has a higher elevation. Is this because of their y-coordinates (with A having a higher Y)?

I want tile B to be on top of tile A. How do get the correct overlap?

Yes, tiles with higher y are in front. In order to have a tile on top of the other, you must place them on the same x,y coordinates, different z.
