problem connecting a server

Postby DarioGimenez » 03 May 2012, 00:10

Hi,

First, sorry by my english!

I rented a dedicated server and install server.

I can enter to the admin tool, but I can not connect from a client. I tried connecting with a client to a local server (127.0.0.1) and it works, but I can not do it with the remote server.

I have asked to the dedicated technical support to open the port 9933, but I have not solved the problem.

Any idea what could be the problem?

your client must be using some sfs-config.xml file right?

make sure the ip address is set to the "public ip" address of your dedicated server.

Hi.
Is your server listening to its internal IP (or external IP in case of a VPS)? Remember that if you don't listen to it, the server won't be reachable from the outside. You can change this on Socket Addresses list in the General Tab of the Server Configurator Module of the AdminTool.
And can you telnet your server? Please make sure that you have no firewalls blocking on the server.

Yes, the ideas are those from the Troubleshooting guide.
If the telnet test fails there can be the following problems:

1) The server is not running (easy to double check)

and/or

2) There's a firewall (either on the client or server) blocking the communication.

cheers
