Adobe Flash will be retired at the end of 2020

As announced a few years ago, Adobe has been working on the gradual retirement of the Flash technology from the web in favor of open standards such as HTML5, WebGL etc.

Officially December 31st. 2020 will be the last day for the Flash platform, after which it will be removed from the Adobe website. This means it won’t be available for download any more, nor there will be any form of support or updates from Adobe.

SFS2X 2.16 update released!

SmartFoxServer 2X 2.16.0 is available as a cumulative update patch for all previous SFS2X 2.14 and 2.15 installations.

The focus of this release is the final version of the new HTML5 AdminTool, which now officially replaces the legacy, Flash-based tool. We completed the porting adding the last module, Analytics, but we also added a long-awaited feature: it is now possible to integrate your own custom administration modules in the AdminTool! SFS2X and Websocket for HTML5 and Unity.

Websocket has become very popular thanks to the ubiquity of HTML5 technologies on desktop, mobile and even consoles. Additionally game engines such as Unity, with its WebGL build, has pushed the boundaries of what can be achieved in web-based games allowing many developers to release their titles for the browser.

SFS2X 2.15 update released!

SmartFoxServer 2X 2.15 is available as an update patch for all previous SFS2X 2.14 installations.

The release provides a revamped server engine’s UDP pipeline to improve scalability for very high packet rates. If you’re running a real-time game based on UDP for thousands of players, we highly recommend this update.

February API Updates

We have released new API updates that fix an edge case with MMORooms. If your game joins players in both regular and MMO Rooms at the same time, we recommend upgrading to the latest release.

Also in the Java/Android API we have fixed a connectivity issue with the BlueBox and SmartFoxServer 2X 2.14.

SmartFoxServer 2.14 is available!

SmartFoxServer 2X 2.14 is out with new features, bug fixes and a focus on improved performance for all HTTP related services. Especially the BlueBox and Websocket where you can expect a performance boost in the range of 60-100%.

Additionally we are launching the beta version of the new HTML5 AdminTool which will soon replace the old Flash-based version.
